A MUSICAL EXCURSION
Each country has a repertoire of songs that tells its story.
In the archives of Israeli music, there are songs that tell little stories and songs that describe epics with respect to the people, places and experiences that created Israel’s unique and original culture and gave shape to the distinctive Israeli character.
On the occasion of the 60th year of the State of Israel, a compelling and humorous musical lecture was conceived which recounts the story of the State of Israel through its songs.
Guy Shlesinger, lecturer and musical producer, relates the stories and anecdotes behind the songs and performances over the 60 years of the country’s existence. Included in the program are songs such as “Hallelujah” and “Shteym-Asar Tonn” (“12 Tons”), and other songs featuring the “Army Jeep", the“Public Payphone,” “Gan Hashikmim” (“Sycamore Park”), “Lonely Streetlamp” in the “Old Time Tel Aviv”, and many more, each of them linked to a signicant page of the history of Israel.
The presentation integrates original video clips of some of the foremost army musical ensembles such as: "lehakat hanahal" , as well as contemporary clips aimed at both young and old alike together with lively sing along.
The musical journey brings all generations together and reminds us of our strong common bond. We all care for Israel.
The length of the program is 90 minutes and the audience plays an active part throughout.
